100 Water Hardness Test Strips - Free Shipping - Includes our water softener adjustment guide.
These water hardness test strips are easy to use. Just dip into a water sample and match to the chart. You'll find out if you have hard or soft water instantly.
Each kit contains 100 test strips.
    Use the test kit to:
See if your water softener is working.
Adjust your water softener for maximum efficiency.
    Test your reverse osmosis system.
    Why test water hardness?
The level of dissolved calcium and magnesium in your water is measured as water hardness . Hard water has high levels of primarily calcium with some magnesium. These minerals cause spots on dishware, foggy glassware and shower doors. Calcium precipitates on the surface of water heater elements and also causes the inner tank to leak.  The same happens to expensive coffee makers and other water-using appliances. These minerals coat skin and hair. It also reduces the effectiveness of soaps and detergents.
A water softener removes hardness if it is working properly. The only way to know if your water softener is working is by testing the filtered water. Dip the test strip in the water and compare to the chart. If the strip does not change color, the water is soft. The closest color match is your hardness level. If water hardness is detected before the softener runs through the recharge cycle, you need to make an adjustment on the softener. Read your manual for instructions. Repeat the test and see if the adjustment corrected the issue. Repeat until the softener is dialed in.
You can do this yourself! Why pay a pro to do what you can do by reading the softener manual?
If you have a reverse osmosis system you must monitor the condition of the RO membrane. Eventually it will need to be replaced. The easiest way is to test the water hardness. When water hardness starts to leak through the RO system, you know the membrane is starting to fail.
Note: Bottled water, spring water, filtered water, and other types of "purified" water will contain water hardness. Only distilled, and RO bottled water will have zero hardness.
Your softener may also need to have the resin cleaned. Iron and copper coat the resin beads, making them less effective. The fix is easy.
If you have questions about any of this, please ask.
The test strips come in a sealed jar. Keep wet fingers OUT of the jar. The test strips will have a shelf life of 18 months. For this fund-raising project we're partnering with a private label manufacturer. The kits are fresh, not expired over-stocks often sold on Ebay.
