Barbie was a glamorous hostess inDinner at Eight!
This lovely outfit from 1963-64 has beautiful autumn colors, as the silk jumpsuit is a deep fiery orange color, and is topped by a gold lame and pumpkin colored hostess coat. This outfit is in Excellent and Complete condition, and includes the jumpsuit, hostess coat, and gold and plastic wedge shoes. I don't rate anything as "Mint" unless I've just taken it out of the original packaging.
I've collected vintage Barbie for 30+ years, and I scrutinize items I sell on eBay. If you have a question that my description hasn't answered, please ask me:) You may want to save me as a seller, as I'm selling a large vintage Barbie collection on eBay.
This outfit will display beautifully, but the silk jumpsuit is fragile and has a couple issues that shouldn't look obvious on display. The color of the jumpsuit is bright and unfaded, and the jumpsuit is overall clean.
The jumpsuit's snap is intact at the back closure.
There was slight stress pulling around the bodice's front gathered stitching. The stress pulling created a slightly enlarged needle hole at the bottom of the gathered stitching. See pic #2 for a close-up of this area; the gathering has been restitched so that the slightly larger needle hole won't show. On the inside of the jumpsuit's right lower leg, (right in the main pic), there was an 1" long area along the seam where the fabric had pulled and frayed a little. The seam was restitched so the fray is minimized. You can still see it a little, but as it is on the inside leg seam, it shouldn't show on display. The back of the jumpsuit's left lower leg shows a small smudge of soil just to the left of the crease, see pic #3. The lovely pumpkin and gold lame hostess coat is in great shape; the fabric has good body, and the snap is still present. The vintage gold and tan plastic wedgies are in great shape; the gold straps and insoles are intact. They are unmarked on the bottoms, but they are vintage Mattel.
