There are two different filter types for all Enagic machines, the 'original' HG, and HG-N type which has a different shaped center nipple base.
This filter is compatible with the newer Enagic machines (after 2011) that use
HG-N model filter

Please check your existing filter by comparing it to the picture in this listing. Note the center nipple has two extra notches.

To ensure great tasting water from your water ionizer, it is recommended to replace the filter cartridge every 6-12 months or 3000 gallons*, which ever comes first.
What is Carbon Block Filter Technology?
Not all filters are built the same in terms of contaminant reduction performance. Rigorous product development, quality control and experimentation have shown carbon block products to be far more efficient at removing contaminants of aesthetic and health concern.
Technological Advantages
As evidenced by independent laboratory testing of carbon block filters, the AF-9000HP provides greater chemical adsorption and mechanical filtration. Materials are formed into a carbon block, which is densely compacted. Compression enhances the kinetics of the filter and provides performance that cannot be achieved with extruded or granular activated carbon (GAC) filters. Compacted carbon block filters have a large surface area for chemical/physical adsorption to take place. With a carbon block filter, the water contact time is longer and provides for greater adsorption of many different chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and certain heavy metals

Q: How is your filter different or better?
A: Advanced carbon block technology and other high quality filter media deliver cleaner and great tasting water than traditional granular activated carbon (GAC) filter.
Q: How often should I change my filter?
A: Best every 6 months and no more than 12 months, or you see a significant reduction in water flow. Don't always wait until t
he filter replacement indicator light to come on.
Better filtration also prolongs the life of your ionizer.

Q: What wiill my water flow rate be like using this filter?
A: This may vary depending on source water condition, type of ionizer, and usage. The finer pores of the carbon block gives you better filtration than GAC so if you do experience reduced flow, it means the filter is actually working hard to remove the sediments and contaminants in your water!
Q: I don't have a prefilter installed. Do I need one?
A: No. However, for optimum performance of the AF-9000 filter it is recommended that you install an under-the-counter sediment prefilter. This is particularly helpful in areas with high levels of sediments in the source water and/or lower water pressure.
Q: How do I know if my old/existing filter is the new HG-N type?
A: The two filter models, or types of fit for the replacement filters on Enagic machines are either "original" or "HG-N". Each model of filter can only be installed onto its respective filter base in the machine. First, check your old/existing filter if it has large HG-N letters marked on the side, just under the Enagic logo. Second, the center nipple on the HG-N filter is not completely round with
two notches on the outer rim.
Finally, look inside your machine where the filter sits. If the filter tray has two extra bulges in the center hole (outlet) and not completely round, you have the HG-N type filter. The "original" type or MW-7000HG filters do NOT have these features.
Also note that if you purchased your Enagic machine in 2011 or later, most likely you have the new HG-N filter.  Please do not force our AF-9000 HG-N filter into an HG filter tray or turn on the machine if the filter is not properly installed.
