    Description

    Superbly crafted, custom (bespoke) French equestrian (riding) dressage boots, ladies size 8 1/2 Medium width. Custom fitted/made in Saumur, France, home of the French Cavalry School and the fabled French National Equestrian Team, the Cadre Noir. These are heavy black calves' leather that will take a high polish. Minimal exterior wear: No cracking or flaking whatsoever, a few light scratches/scuffs, loss of black finish where calves came in contact with the saddle/stirrup straps, but overall a fine patina and good coat of wax which can be further buffed to a very high polish. Fully leather lined. Heels/soles are hard rubber composite over a leather foundation and show minor wear. See exact specifications below.
    Included is a set of French handmade custom-fitted beechwood boot trees marked "D" (Droite [Right]) and "G" (Gauche [Left]), each center section has a brass ring for removing that section, enabling the remaining sections to be easily removed.  The toe portion is articulated via a wooden dowel joint to allow for easy removal of the toe section of the trees. Someone at one time marked the interior of each 3-piece tree section with "DUCLOS FRANCK"; this is either the maker or a previous owner. The markings are either marker or grease crayon and could easily be removed by a judicious fine sanding, although they are hidden/not visible from the exterior of the trees and so in no way detract from the appearance of the trees.
    To duplicate these boots and the trees today - if such craftsmanship still exists (the boots were crafted in the mid-1990s) - would require a four digit expenditure, easily 00 or above.  A truly exceptional pair of bespoke French dressage boots for the discerning equestrienne, these boots will last for years of riding.
