A programmable scale with memory for storing a code for every food you sell by weight. The code is called a PLU, meaning price lookup, and appears on produce labels. You enter a PLU number, along with the food (vegetable, fruit, nut) and its price per pound, and the cashier has only to place the food on the scale and type the code: The scale computes the price.
